  •  Oct. 22, 2026 at 6:00 pm FAFSA Night at Lanier-  Media Center for seniors and their parents to set up FAFSA ID and complete GSFAPPs for Hope & Zell
  • October 29, 2026 @ Lanier, 7:30 am ASVAB Exam. Email Ms. Key to sign up. 
  • December 31, 2026 Pay Senior Dues for Cheapest Price
  • January 1, 2027 Senior Dues Increase 
  • January 4th, 2027 Senior Portraits with CADY Due

College Application To-Do List

  • Register for SAT/ACT
  • SAT/ACT Waiver (confirm Free/Reduced status with School Counselor)
  • Complete Senior Brag Sheet (SchooLinks via GCPS portal)
  • Complete College Applications: Common App, Common Black College App, Ga Futures, Direct to Institution, and check deadlines  
  • Sync SchooLinks to Common App and sign FERPA waiver
  • FAFSA- Free Application For Federal Student Aid (Opens October 1, 2026)
  • Review Scholarship Information on Google Classroom and SchooLinks
  • College Fair Information on Google Classroom and SchooLinks

College and Career Checklist

Register for SAT

  • Prepare for the SAT online for free at www.khanacademy.org/test-prep
  • Fee Waivers are available in the Counseling Office for students receiving Free & Reduced Lunch. Students on F&R meals can also access FREE college applications.

Register for ACT

  • Stop by the Counseling Office, if you qualify for a waiver!
  • Prepare for the ACT online: www.act.org

Create a GA Futures Account to send transcripts and check HOPE GPA!

  • Please complete ASAP.
  • Make sure that your Social Security number is on file here at LHS before graduation; If you cannot see your HOPE GPA in GA Futures, we do not have it. Please take your blue SS Card to the counseling office so that they can make a copy and add it to your file.
  • Complete the GSFAPP in GA Futures for Hope & Zell Miller (one-time state aid application).

Complete and submit the Senior Brag Sheet in SchooLinks if your college/s require teacher recommendations. (2-week notice recommended)

  • Your teacher can view brag sheets there & you can email them a downloaded copy. They will use this to write your college recommendation letter.
    • Could be Optional - Check to see if the college requires a recommendation.

Sync Schoolinks with Common App.

Sign your FERPA waiver in Common APP and SchooLinks

Attend a College Fair/Info Session

  • Create FSA ID

    • FAFSA Username & Password that gives you access to Federal Student Aid’s online systems and can serve as your legal signature, for you and a parent!

  • Complete FAFSA - FREE Application for Federal Student Aid

  • Attend a FAFSA/FSAID Help Day/Night - October 22nd  at 6pm in the media center and February (Date TBD).
